Common Materials for External Plastic Parts
ABS: Offers balanced overall performance-including high gloss, ease of processing, and impact resistance-making it the preferred material for the vast majority of appliance housings (e.g., TVs, washing machines, air conditioners).
Flame-retardant ABS: ABS modified with flame-retardant additives to meet fire safety standards for electronic equipment; commonly used for external components requiring fire safety compliance.
PC/ABS Alloy:Features excellent overall performance with a balance of strength, heat resistance, and processability; often used for decorative external parts on mid-to-high-end appliances, though it comes at a relatively higher cost.
High-gloss PP: Low cost, good flowability, and high surface finish; frequently used for the outer casings of small appliances such as rice cookers, steam irons, and vacuum cleaners.
HIPS (High-Impact Polystyrene): Good impact resistance and thermal ductility; used for components such as some refrigerator door liners and housings for low-end appliances.

PP (Polypropylene): High toughness, chemical resistance, and low cost; widely used for internal components such as snap-fits, refrigerator drawers, and washing machine inner tubs.
PU (Polyurethane): Extremely low thermal conductivity and excellent thermal insulation; the standard material for the insulation foam layer in refrigerator doors and cabinets.
GPPS (General-Purpose Polystyrene):Dimensional stability and low shrinkage; often used for transparent, rigid internal parts such as refrigerator crisper drawers and transparent bottle racks.
PBT (Polybutylene Terephthalate): Very low water absorption, dimensional stability, and high heat resistance; a key material for precision electrical components inside appliances, such as connectors, terminal blocks, and thermostat brackets. PE (polyethylene): Non-toxic, impact-resistant, and low in water permeability; widely used for blow-molded components such as internal drainage pipes for home appliances and cold storage reservoirs.
